Another winter storm has moved into the state, and light snow accumulations have been reported. Winter storm watches and warnings are in effect for at least half of the viewing area.

The transition from rain to a rain/snow mix is occuring, and most of the viewing area should be seeing a complete change to snow just before sunrise. The low pressure system causing this wintry weather is located over southwest Missouri and northwest Arkansas and will continue to track to the northeast over the next couple of days. The heaviest snow will fall overnight in the early morning hours and last through noon tomorrow, tapering off after that. Light snow is possible throughout the afternoon and evening hours Tuesday. Light snow showers could be seen on Wednesday but no major accumulations are expected.

The highest accumulations will be in the extreme northwest counties of the viewing area (between 10-12 inches). Total snow amounts will decrease as you head further to the southeast.

Make sure your car is prepared to handle the weather if you have to travel early tomorrow. The best plan is to stay inside if you can.

More updates from the StormVision Weather Center will be posted as we receive new information.
