American Red Cross Heart of Missouri Chapter volunteers helped a Cole County family after high winds ripped off part of their roof in Elston.

Two volunteers went to the home after the Cole County Sheriff's Office notified the Red Cross about about 10 p.m. Sunday.

Volunteers provided the family with financial resources to meet their immediate emergency needs with the purchase of food and a temporary motel stay.

The two-person family was also given comfort kits, which contained personal hygiene items.
