The driver hit the second pedestrian twice before leaving the scene
Two women -- a mother and daughter -- were struck by a car in the Sedalia Autozone parking lot Tuesday night.
According to the police report, the daughter was trying to drive onto Broadway when her van died at the parking lot's east entrance. Her mother was in her own vehicle in the parking lot, so she walked over.
The two spoke for a couple minutes when a silver Ford (late '90s or early '00s, possibly a Contour or Escort) tried to turn into the lot a few minutes before 6 p.m.
The daughter's van was in the middle of the entrance, but with enough room on either side for another vehicle to move past. The driver of the Ford started honking, then drove between the van and curb. In doing so, the Ford went over the daughter's foot. She hit the vehicle and yelled at the driver, who continued into the lot.
The driver accelerated and hit the mother, who had also yelled at the driver for running over her daughter's foot. She rolled across the hood and landed on her feet, but the driver accelerated yet again and hit her a second time. She was later taken by ambulance to Bothwell Regional Medical Center.
The driver then drove through the parking lot to exit out of the west entrance.
