COLUMBIA --- Sports broadcasters have certainly given us some lines and some moments to remember.

To this day, especially this weekend, they remain so very relevant.

* "Go crazy, folks, go crazy!"

* "Do you believe in miracles? Yes!"

Friday night, the Cardinals did it again --- the miracle on ice on grass --- as St. Louis pulled off a stunning and spine-tingling 9-7 win over the Washington Nationals in the deciding game of the NLDS.

These things don't just happen. Feel the goose bumps.

Remarkable. Unexpected. Unbelievable.

* "If you get outscored, it is almost impossible to win."

* "It's a partial sellout."

Saturday, No. 1 Alabama did it again --- the Missouri Tigers were just the latest bug on the windshield of the Crimson Tide Machine.

Unremarkable. Expected. Believable.

Here's all you really need to know about this one, although more information will be shared throughout the writing of this column.

Alabama won 42-10 --- it was 21-0 after one quarter.

The game had a 38-minute lightning delay in the second quarter, which only delayed the obvious. Fans cleared the stadium and most didn't come back. When the game resumed it was played in front of family, close friends and Alabama fans.

Alabama running back Eddie Lacy rushed for three touchdowns and 177 yards; Missouri finished with 129 TOTAL yards to Alabama's 533.

The chicken and dumplings served in the press box were lousy, but at least we stayed dry (Smile here for us. :)

More to come on Missouri. But first, oh my --- what a frenetic, fantastic finish it was Friday night.

* "It's not over 'til it's over."

Adam Wainwright got the start for the Cardinals and was as effective as a t-ball pitcher. He got rocked and the Cardinals got knocked into a 6-0 hole after three innings.

The Cardinals had less life than Jimmy Hoffa. Was Yogi wrong?

But the game went from 6-0 to 6-1, 6-3, 6-4 and 6-5 heading to the bottom of the eighth when Daniel Descalso --- the new Mr. October --- hit a solo home run.

The Cardinals were being as pesky as that fly landing on your nose in the middle of the night. Go away, already.

* MU update: Alabama just scored again.

The Nationals added an insurance run in the bottom of the eighth to make it 7-5 --- the same score the Cardinals trailed by entering the ninth inning of Game 6 of last year's World Series.

Remember that one?

Carlos Beltran --- statistically one of the best postseason players in history --- doubled to start the ninth, but was later stuck on third with two out.

From that point, the Nationals were within one strike of a win no less than FIVE times.

* Alabama just scored again.

Walks to Yadier Molina and David Freese loaded the bases to bring up Mr. October, and Decalso's two-run single tied it.

Oh, Danny boy.

"I looked over at the dugout and the guys were going crazy and I got even more fired up out there," Descalso said.

Up came rookie Pete Kozma --- now dubbed the Wizard of Koz --- who delivered a two-run single to cap the improbable four-run rally.

* "I don't believe what I just saw!"

"When Pete got that big knock to put us ahead," Descalso said, "it was chaos in the dugout. That's an awesome feeling, to share that moment with these guys after coming back."

Washington gives all of us disappointment on a daily basis, especially when a politician speaks. Now, Washington's baseball fans were getting a double-barreled shot of it.

The Nationals went down without a fight in the bottom of the ninth and when the final pop-up dropped into the glove of Descalso, well ...

* "Go crazy, folks, go crazy!!!"

St. Louis has now won six consecutive postseason elimination games. And this comeback from a 6-run deficit in such a game is the biggest in baseball history.

One of the two tied for second --- coming back from four runs down --- is the Pittsburgh Pirates in Game 7 of the 1925 World Series. Yes, 1925. The Pirates' opponent?

The Washington Senators.

As for this Washington team, look on the bright side --- Stephen Strasburg will be well rested when spring training starts in February.

The same can be said of Albert Pujols, as he settles down on his couch stuffed with cash to watch the Cardinals play the San Francisco Giants in the NLCS, which starts Sunday night in San Francisco.

* "We will see you tomorrow night!"

Remarkable. Unbelievable.

Oh, and one last thing ...

*Alabama just scored again.
