COLUMBIA, Mo. - A rare bad outing by Chelsea Thomas put the Missouri softball team on the brink of elimination from the NCAA tournament.

Thomas didn't make it out of the fifth inning in Missouri's 6-1 loss to LSU in game one of their NCAA Super Regional. The Tiger ace pitched out of a jam in the top of the first, but LSU broke through in the third. Allison Falcon dropped a single into center with the bases loaded, giving the visiting Tigers a 2-0 lead.

After Missouri scored a run in the fourth, LSU put three on the board in the fifth. Thomas hit two batters with the bases loaded and also walked in a run. She was pulled after going 4 1/3 innings. Thomas allowed five runs on five hits and walked six batters.

Missouri and LSU will play game two of the series at 2:30 on Sunday. If Missouri wins, a third game would also be played on Sunday. The winner of the Super Regional advances to the Women's College World Series.
