Worth Noting will help you spread the word for your sports-related fundraiser, be it a golf tournament, barbecue, car wash, whatever. We will run these for up to a month in advance to help your cause for a charity, your team, etc.

If your son/daughter or nephew/niece or friend/acquaintance has signed an athletic scholarship, please let us know. It doesn't matter what sport or the size of the college, this is a great accomplishment and is worth noting. These will change every week. Also, if you made a hole-in-one, bowled a 300 or caught a fish bigger than your kitchen table, we would love to share that, too. These also will change every week.

In addition, we will track and update the season progress of Sam LeCure (Helias/Cincinnati Reds) and Blake Tekotte (Columbia Hickman/San Diego Padres) each week.

Send your info to
tloeffler@krcg.com and it will be our pleasure to spread the good word.

Little Olympics

More than 650 fourth- and fifth-grade boys and girls will converge on Adkins Stadium on Saturday for the 63rd annual Little Olympics. Girls' events start at 9 a.m., with the boys' events starting around noon.

Awards will be presented to one outstanding boy and girl athlete from the parochial and public schools. Candidates are selected on the merits of leadership, scholastic achievement, courtesy and athletic ability.

Participating schools are: Belair, Callaway Hills, Cedar Hill, Concord Christian, East, Immaculate Conception, Lawson, Moreau Heights, North, Pioneer Trail, South, St. Joseph, St. Peter's, Thorpe Gordon, Trinity Lutheran and West.

BASEBALL

Bulldogs at Busch

The South Callaway Bulldogs will play the Salem Tigers on May 26 at Busch Stadium after the Cardinals' 6:15 p.m. game against the Philadelphia Phillies. Tickets, which are good for both games, are just $20 in the Left Field Pavilion section. After the Cards-Phillies game, fans can move down closer to the field.

As an incentive for selling tickets, the top seller on South Callaway's team will get to have batting practice with the Cardinals. The school is trying to raise money for a new backstop at the baseball field, and to help with fees associated with the summer league.

Zastryzny honored

Missouri sophomore Rob Zastryzny has been named the Big 12 Pitcher of the Week after his complete-game shutout of Texas Tech on Friday night. Zastryzny is the third Tiger to take home a Big 12 Weekly honor and is the first Tiger hurler to earn Big 12 Pitcher of the Week since May 18, 2010, when Nick Tepesch took home the honor.

Zastryzny allowed seven hits and two walks while striking out five against Texas Tech, completing the game in 112 pitches. He is the first Tiger to throw a complete game shutout in Big 12 play since 2009 when Kyle Gibson did so against Kansas State. Zastryzny is 4-2 with a 3.58 ERA this season, with a team-best 57 strikeouts in 70 innings.
