SPARTANBURG, S.C. (AP) — Samford University's Mike Morris was named the Southern Conference women's basketball coach of the year.
The postseason honor was announced Tuesday in Spartanburg, South Carolina.
Morris led the Bulldogs to a 21-6 record this season, including a school-best 16-4 mark in conference play.
The Birmingham school has averaged 20 wins per season in the past 4 years.
Samford sophomores Emily London and Savannah Hill also were recognized. Both were named to the All-Conference team.
Samford opens play in the Southern Conference tournament Friday at 8 a.m.
