LONDON -- Christian Cantwell's bid for a second straight Olympic medal came up about an inch and a half short.

Cantwell, an Eldon native and former Missouri Tiger, finished fourth in the men's shot put final on Friday afternoon. Cantwell's best throw traveled 69 feet, 6 1/4 inches. American Reese Hoffa earned the bronze medal with a toss of 69 feet, 7 3/4 inches.

Tomasz Majewski of Poland won his second straight Olympic gold medal, while Germany's David Storl claimed silver.
