Worth Noting will help you spread the word for your sports-related fundraiser, be it a golf tournament, barbecue, car wash, whatever. We will run these for up to a month in advance to help your cause for a charity, your team, etc.
If your son/daughter or nephew/niece or friend/acquaintance has signed an athletic scholarship, please let us know. It doesn't matter what sport or the size of the college, this is a great accomplishment and is worth noting. These will change every week. Also, if you made a hole-in-one, bowled a 300 or caught a fish bigger than your kitchen table, we would love to share that, too. These also will change every week.
In addition, we will track and update the season progress of Sam LeCure (Helias/Cincinnati Reds) and Blake Tekotte (Columbia Hickman/San Diego Padres) each week.
Send your info to tloeffler@krcg.com and it will be our pleasure to spread the good word.
FOOTBALL
Lincoln spring game/camp
The Lincoln Blue Tigers annual spring football game will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday at Dwight T. Reed Stadium. The game is free and open to the public.
A number of raffles and giveaways will take place for fans of all ages during the spring game. One local elementary school student will win a pizza party for his or her class. Another fan will win $1,000 to be given to the elementary school of their choice. Lincoln University students will have the chance to win an iPod during the festivities, while other fans will have the opportunity to win tickets to one of this fall's five LU home games.
Prior to the spring game, the Blue Tigers will host a youth football camp for area youth in second through eighth games. Members of the Blue Tiger football team, under the direction of head coach Mike Jones, will work with each attending student, teaching them basic fundamentals of the sport. Every participant will receive a camp t-shirt, hot dogs and chips after the camp and a ticket into the spring game, where they will be recognized at a special halftime ceremony.
The youth football camp is the result of a partnership between the Lincoln football team and the Jefferson City YMCA. Registration is $20 per participant and can be done through the YMCA at any of the Firley, Knowles or West Facilities or online (www.jcymca.org). Campers can also register through the Jefferson City Department of Parks and Recreation, located at 427 Monroe or online (www.jeffcitymo.org/parks).

SOFTBALL
LU in MIAA Tournament
As a result of Saturday's sweep over Southwest Baptist, the Lincoln softball team will play in the MIAA Softball Tournament, starting Thursday at the Blue Valley Sports Complex in Overland Park, Kan. from April 26-28.
The Blue Tigers (15-34, 6-14 MIAA) won a three-way tiebreaker with Truman State and Southwest Baptist to claim the eighth seed in the tourney, and will open the double-elimination event against top seed Emporia State (33-9, 20-0) on at 6 p.m. Thursday.
Should Lincoln defeat Emporia State, the Blue Tigers would then play the winner of Central Missouri-Washburn. A loss to Emporia State instead have Lincoln facing the loser of the Central Missouri-Washburn first-round. Both of those games are scheduled for 8 p.m. Thursday.
