DETROIT (AP) — Phoenix Coyotes coach Dave Tippett says Shane Doan's health has improved and lists him as day to day.

Doan skated before his teammates practiced Monday, a day after his right shoulder hit the endboards and the injury ended his game at Detroit. The coach says the captain was in good spirits and called that a positive sign.

Tippett says the team will have a good indication after its skate Tuesday whether Doan will be able to play that night in Game 4. Phoenix leads 2-1 in the first-round series.

Doan had a goal and an assist during the first two games, which were split in Phoenix, and led the Coyotes with 55 points during the regular season.
