NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Former Oklahoma kicker Garrett Hartley is heading to the Super Bowl in Miami.
Now playing for the New Orleans Saints, Hartley kicked a 40-yard field goal in overtime Sunday night to lift his team to a 31-28 victory over Minnesota. The win sent New Orleans to its first-ever Super Bowl appearance.
Hartley described the situation as "surreal" and says he even had a premonition about kicking a game-winner in the NFC title game.
Hartley signed with the Saints in October 2008 and made all 13 of his field goal attempts during his rookie season.
But during the summer, he tested positive for use of a banned stimulant and was suspended for four games.
