KNOXVILLE, TENNESSEE (AP) -- Pat Summitt has now gone where no other major college basketball coach has traveled.

The Tennessee women's coach is the first Division I basketball coach -- man or woman -- to win 1,000 career games.

Her 12th-ranked Lady Vols routed Georgia 73-43.

It was their second chance in four days at giving their coach her latest and one of her greatest milestones.

The Lady Vols, with seven freshmen on the roster, improved to 17-and-4.

In her 35 years at Tennessee, Summitt has won eight national titles.

And Summitt says reaching 1,000 victories is "a hard number to even comprehend."

Summitt thanked her former players and staff and the Tennessee administration for giving her the chance when women's basketball was not as popular as it is today.

After the game, Tennessee said Summitt signed a five-year contract extension, including a $200,000 bonus for this victory.

The new deal would keep her at Tennessee through 2014, her 40th season at Knoxville.
