ROLLA, MO. -- A Missouri S&T student from Mission, Kan., was found dead in her residence hall Monday morning.

KOLR-TV reports the student is identified as 19-year-old Kaitlin M. Brown. The university says Brown was a sophomore studying business and information technology.

Rolla Police Chief Mark Kearse confirms Brown was found dead around 2:30 a.m. Saturday in her dorm suite. The cause of death has not been released, and the chief says an autopsy is planned for Tuesday.

Campus and local law enforcement are investigating. Kearse told KOLR that police are involved because there were some circumstances surrounding the death that, as he put it, "we're not comfortable with."

"On behalf of our entire university family, I extend my deepest sympathies to Kaitlin's family, loved ones and friends," Missouri S&T Chancellor Cheryl B. Schrader said. "Our hearts go out to all who knew and loved her."
