Stores close for rooftop snow removal

The Wal-mart store on Conley was closed for a short time Thursday so workers could remove snow from the roof. The Sam's Club in Columbia was also closed and will remain closed until Friday at 7 a.m. for the same reason.
There were minor leaks at the two locations.
Per Wal-mart protocol, snow removal vendors are brought in when that much heavy, wet snow falls.
The Wal-mart on Grindstone Parkway also closed Thursday afternoon because of a power outage and for rooftop snow removal. Officials did not say when the store would reopen, or if there was any damage to the roof.
Other Columbia Wal-marts remained open.
