Despite an air and ground search, one person is on the loose after a burglary and subsequent chase that touched three counties Wednesday.

Morgan County deputies responded to the Timberlake Village Estates area in Rocky Mount, Mo., for a report of a burglary in progress. While en route, the suspects left in a dark blue minivan with a loud muffler.

The deputy nearest the location spotted the van and tried to stop it on Red Arrow Road, but the driver kept going.

Before two other deputies were able to set up a road block, the vehicle was on State Road W in Miller County. The chase continued to State Road Z, heading toward Eldon, then went onto Highway 52 through Eldon and then onto Highway 54 east toward Jefferson City.

One of the suspects jumped from the van after it went onto Highway 54 and was taken into custody. That person is at the Morgan County Detention Center on a 24-hour hold, awaiting formal charges from the prosecutor’s office.

The other suspect kept driving toward Jefferson City, then tried to turn onto Atchison Road. The sudden stop afforded a pursuing deputy the opportunity to push the van onto the shoulder of the road.

The driver exited the van, jumped onto the hood of the deputy's car, then ran into the woods.

Deputies pursued but returned to their vehicles after losing the suspect. They called for air support from the Missouri State Highway Patrol and for K-9 units.

K-9 units from Osage and Cole counties responded, but they and the Highway Patrol were unable to find the suspect.

The burglary investigation continues. Authorities are trying to contact the home owners.
