Police arrested Quincy Avant after pointing a gun at a man and then jumping off of a balcony.
COLUMBIA -- A Columbia man was arrested after he held a man at gunpoint and then ran from officers.
At about 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, police responded to a disturbance in the 2900-block of Argyle Drive.
Witness said 39-year-old Quincy Avant was driving recklessly in the street.
Police said a witness told him to stop, Avant got angry and held a gun to the man's side.
When the victim ran inside, Avant followed him and pointed a gun through a glass door at his head then left in his car.
Officers later found Avant at the Red Roof Inn.
As they approached he jumped off the balcony and ran toward the highway.
He was arrested under the overpass at I-70 and Providence.
Police found the gun in the motel room.
Avant was arrested for armed criminal action,unlawful use of a weapon, assault and resisting arrest.
