The final week before district play begins included many mid-Missouri homecomings. Both Columbia schools, Rock Bridge and Hickman won close games on homecoming. The Fulton Hornets, who've played close almost all season long, edged Kirksville 20-13 for a homecoming victory. Blair Oaks celebrated with a big 47-0 homecoming win over Eldon. It was a happy homecoming in California, where the Pintos broke out the red jerseys and defeated Knob Noster 38-10; it was a good win for California heading into district play.

Helias is still two weeks away from homecoming, but the state's second ranked Crusaders cruised to a big 56-12 win over an undermanned Beaumont Bluejacket team. We had a good time with our Mike Kehoe Football Friday Night Preview with "Live" reports at 5 and 6pm. Big thanks to the Helias Marching Crusaders and the Helias Cheerleaders!  Helias is now a perfect 7-0 on the season.

The Jefferson City Jays got another shot at Rockhurst. Two weeks after losing 20-13 at Adkins Stadium, the Jays traveled to Kansas City and fell short 33-19. The Jays rebounded after a bad start. J.C. fell behind 20-0 after the first ten minutes of the game.  After that Jeff City outscored the Hawklets 19-10, but it wasn't enough to avoid a 12th straight loss to Rockhurst.

The Centralia Panthers keep rolling on. Centralia remains the number one team in the state in Class 2. The Panthers are 7-0 following a 61-0 pounding of Palmyra. Warsaw is also unbeaten. The WIldcats blanked School of the Osage 30-0, sewing up the Tri-County conference championship. The Westran Hornets fell from the ranks of the unbeaten.

Westran is now 6-1 after a 28-26 loss to Marceline on Friday night. In our feature game of the week, the Southern Boone Eagles beat North Callaway. Southern Boone ran the ball over 60 times, gaining over 300 yards on the ground. They passed the ball one time. It all added up to a

36-13 win over the Thunderbirds, who will return home for a homecoming battle with MMA this coming Friday night. Something special is scheduled for North Callaway. It's a secret. We can't tell you until Friday night.

Best individual effort of week 7 goes to Montgomery County Wildcat Senior R. B. Dominic Thomas. This may be the best effort of the season. Dominic scored 8 touchdowns and even ran in a 2-point conversion in a 62-16 win over Winfield last Friday night. He did all of that in the first half! Thomas ended with over 400 total yards of offense!

High School football district play begins this week. Only the final three games count toward the playoffs. For the second straight year the top two teams from each four team district will make the playoffs. Good luck to all of our local teams!

See you on Football Friday Night! We'll be "live" with our Kehoe pre-game preview at 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. at Blair Oaks High School for the Falcons matchup with South Callaway. Our Feature game of the night is the Highway 54 Bowl.   Hope you will vote on out Fulton-Mexico game here on High School Football Central.
