They had not registered with authorities after being convicted of sex crimes
Two men were arrested Thursday for failing to register as sex offenders in Boone County. Both have a $4,500 bond.
Larry Tapp, 51, and Joseph Williams, 39, have both been convicted of sex crimes, but have not complied with legally-mandated sexual offender registration requirements.
Deputies and detectives with the Boone County Sheriff's Department did random compliance checks for sex offenders, who must register with the department periodically and provide a current, valid address, DNA swab and other information.
Most offenders in the approximately 50 residences checked through mid-afternoon Thursday were in compliance with the terms of their registration.
