Authorities have released some new information on the death of a former Rock Bridge High School student.

Northern Michigan University officials presented some preliminary findings from their investigation of the drowning of Arianna Alioto, 18.

Alioto drowned on November 30 while in a campus swimming pool after her soccer team practice.

Authorities said the lifeguard on duty prior to the discovery of Alioto’s body locked all the pool doors before ending her shift.

The initial round of interviews has been completed.

Investigators said interviews confirmed a lifeguard was present at the practice and no one in the pool saw or heard anyone in distress during or at the conclusion of the training session.

The investigation is ongoing.

Authorities expect to have an autopsy report sometime in January.
