(AP) -- INDEPENDENCE, Mo. (AP) -- A fifth suspect is now charged in a suburban Kansas City home invasion that left three people dead and a 12-year-old boy critically wounded.

The Jackson County prosecutor's office on Monday filed nine felony counts against 27-year-old Carlos Zambrano Jr., including three counts of first-degree murder. The Kansas City man was held without bond Monday evening and did not have a lawyer.

Zambrano is the latest person charged with murder in the Nov. 16 shootings at a small home in Independence. The victims were 48-year-old Maria Hernandez; her 20-year-old son, Antonio Hernandez; and her boyfriend, Tomas Dominguez.

The other four defendants were in court Monday. A judge ordered them held without bond.

Police say robbery and drugs were the apparent motive. They say the victims were known to the suspects.
