Have you gotten a letter in the mail that shows when you and your neighbors last voted?

Some viewers have and they were a little alarmed.

The letters are from "Americans for Limited Government", a conservative group out of Virginia.

With such personal information being mailed to your neighbors, we wanted to know if any laws had been broken.

Marvin Register Cole Coouty Clerk told us, "no they aren't breaking any laws".

Register said everything in his office is open to the public and candidates come in all the time to buy registration lists so they can campaign to a more targeted audience.

But, when you receive these letters, has the sender been able to see who you actually voted for?

"No, no there is no way. The only thing that it does is that is shows they came in and voted”, Register said.

Once the ballot goes into the machine there is no way to tell who it belonged to.

He says there is no reason to feel wronged if you receive one of these letters.

Register says the information likely came from the Secretary of States Office and it did not come from his office.
