(AP) -- MORRISON, Ill. (AP) -- Opening statements are expected to start today in the second trial of a man accused in the 2008 deaths of eight people in Illinois and Missouri.

Jury selection ended Friday with three alternates chosen, to join the 12 jurors selected earlier in the week to hear the trial of Nicholas Sheley.

Jurors include a certified nursing assistant, a retiree and a farmer.

The 33-year-old Sheley has pleaded not guilty in the slaying of 93-year-old Russell Reed of Sterling.

Prosecutors alleged Sheley killed Reed in his home and stole his wallet and car. His body was later found in the trunk of his car.

Sheley has already been convicted in the murder of a Galesburg man and faces trials in six other deaths.
