Columbia city council members are expected to take a final vote on a controversial rezoning issue during their meeting on Monday night.
MFA Oil officials want to build a new Break Time convenience store at the corner of Grindstone Parkway and Rock Quarry Road.
People living in that area filed a protest petition to stop the project that says the new convenience store would increase traffic flow and make their neighborhood more dangerous.
Last month, members of the Columbia Planning and Zoning Commission approved the rezoning request by a vote of 6 to 3.
The blessing of the city council would rezone the land from agricultural to commercial use.
