(AP) -- KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) -- A 35-year-old Blue Springs man has been charged with involuntary manslaughter after a crash on Interstate 70 near Kansas City that claimed the life of a Missouri Department of Transportation worker.

The Jackson County prosecutor's office says David Murdick was charged with the Class B felony after tests at an area hospital showed he had blood-alcohol level of .184, more than twice the legal limit.

Prosecutors have asked for a cash bond of $75,000. A spokesman for prosecutor Jean Peters Baker said Friday afternoon it was unclear if Murdick had obtained an attorney.

Fifty-year-old MoDOT motorist-assist worker Clifton Scott of Kansas City was killed at 2:50 a.m. Friday when he was struck by Murdick's car while helping reroute traffic after a four-vehicle wreck an hour earlier.
