Continuing his tour through Missouri on Saturday, Congressman Todd Akin was in Camdenton.

He was at a rally hosted by the Camdenton Tea party.

Several of his supporters lined up for a photo op with Akin.

Local tea party members also spoke in favor of their candidate, saying that Akin still has what it takes to defeat incumbant Claire McCaskill in November.

Many others came out to support him on a grass roots level, saying that the mainstream Republican Party has lost touch with its voter base.

"Mr. Akin was elected by the people, and we don't like the party bosses so to speak, to tell us that we need to change candidates now after we've already elected a good one," said tea party member John Putnam.

Opponents of Akin also showed up, continuing to address his controversial remarks about rape made on a St. Louis talk show three weeks ago.

They held signs supporting McCaskill and pro-choice views.
