(AP) -- COLUMBIA, Mo. (AP) -- The Boone County Fire District in central Missouri has paid more than $213,000 to the federal government to settle a FEMA audit.

An audit by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's inspector general initially found that the Columbia-based district owed FEMA about $752,000. The review determined that the district combined federal grant money for the Missouri Task Force 1 disaster team with its own general revenue from 2002 to 2007.

The two sides then brokered a compromise, and the fire district's board paid the debt on Thursday. Two other findings from the audit remain in dispute.
