MU officials announced a $5 million partnership that will help improve health care on a global scale.

University researchers have teamed up with the Wallace H. Coulter Foundation to develop new products and services for cancer patients, burn victims and a wide variety of illnesses.

The program awarded funding to five teams of physicians and engineers who are working together to improve health care.

University officials said the partnership will help research become more attractive to investors.

MU Chancellor Brady Deaton said, “MU is deeply committed to focusing its outstanding resources across these vast dimensions of scholarship and research and technological development to advance biomedical discovery and innovation.”

The partnership makes the University of Missouri one of fifteen academic institutions in the country to establish a Coulter Translational Partnership Program.

University officials will select funding for additional projects over the next four years.
