You can meet Marshall the miracle dog Friday, Aug. 25, from noon until 3 at Lizzi and Rocco's store.

The store is located at 503 East Nifong boulevard in Columbia.

The event recognizes Marshall the miracle dog, who was rescued by the Humane Society of Missouri in September 2010, along with over 60 dogs from an animal hoarder living in Marshall, Mo.

Marshall was in the worst shape his veterinarian had ever seen, with a fractured front leg, bite marks all over his body and a wound the size of a tennis ball on his face.

Marshall had to be saved three times while on the operating table, and ended up with an amputated front leg.

His adoptive mom, Cynthia Willenbrock of St Louis, wrote a children's picture book about his story.

The book came out on August 20th and handles the tough social issues children face today, such as bullying, animal cruelty and special needs.

There will also be a book reading and signing by both Cynthia and Marshall during Friday's visit.
