Meeting on Friday will determine his future with the city
JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) -- The future of Jefferson City's city administrator could be in jeopardy because of an email he sent over a proposed dedicated sales tax for the fire department.

Voters in the capital city defeated the proposed sales tax measure Tuesday.
Last week, Administrator Nathan Nickolaus sent an email to municipal employees saying some money currently spent on the fire department would be available for other departments if the measure passed. That contradicted an argument from supporters of the sales tax.
The Jefferson City News Tribune reports the city council plans to meet Friday. Council member Bryan Pope, co-chairman of a group backing the tax, says he expects a vote on whether to fire Nickolaus.
Nickolaus says he followed the law and called the controversy much ado about nothing.
