Updated, August 8th at 3:45 p.m.:
From the Columbia Police Department:
"On August 6 at about 6:40 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 1200 block of Stone Court for a report of an assault.
During the investigation, officers determined that the 24-year-old female victim had been assaulted by her boyfriend, Joe Henry Hawkins III.
During an argument outside their residence Hawkins struck the victim in the face, possibly with a handgun, knocking her unconscious. The victim was transported to the hospital at that time and was released the following day.
Officers saw Hawkins return to the residence while conducting the investigation and pursued him, but were unable to catch him. They searched extensively for Hawkins but have been unable to locate him.
Hawkins is currently wanted for second degree domestic assault, unlawful use of a weapon and felony resisting arrest. Hawkins also has a warrant for his arrest for a Parole Violation.
He should be considered armed and dangerous.
It is possible Hawkins has shaved his head in order to elude capture. Hawkins has tattoos on both arms, one reading "Illinois," and the other of a cross and the word "BOYSZ".
If anyone has any information on the location of Hawkins, or has recently had contact with him please contact the Columbia Police Department at (573) 874-7652, or call Crime Stoppers at (573) 875-TIPS to remain anonymous. If you see Hawkins, do not approach him and call 911 immediately."
