A Jefferson City restaurant in business since 1995 has closed its doors.
Ryan's Restaurant on Stadium Boulevard had its last day of business Tuesday. Employees said they were told about the closing either Tuesday night or Wednesday morning.
A company spokesperson says the closure is a result of the Buffet Incorporated's bankruptcy procedures. The company who owns nearly 500 restaurants around the country filed for bankruptcy in January.
The company's other restaurants include Country Buffet, Old Country Buffet, Hometown Buffet and Tahoe Joe's. 118 restaurants are being closed around the country. The restaurants closed were all determined to be underperforming.
There were 43 employees, both full and part-time, at the Jefferson City location. One of those employees was offered a transfer. The others were encouraged to apply at other locations.
