Eight protesters gathered in front of the KFRU radio station this afternoon carrying signs and collecting signatures for a petition.
NOW members want radio station management to remove Limbaugh’s program from the airwaves.
Limbaugh recently called a female law student a slut after she testified before congress about birth control.
Protesters said KFRU management needs to pull the plug on the conservative talk show host because they claim Limbaugh practices hate speech.
Missouri NOW Vice-President Claire Major said, “There’s a big difference between allowing someone free speech and then giving them a radio program that spreads hate. There’s a big difference there.”
A lone protester held a sign supporting Limbaugh about 100 feet away from the now protesters.
The man wanted to remain anonymous, but said he supports Limbaugh.
The Limbaugh supporter said, “Rush, I like you man! I don’t like everything you say, but not everything that everybody says is what I like. The protesters are wrong. This is America. Rush, keep it up.”
Columbia NOW Chapter members collected more than 600 signatures for their petition calling for the removal of Limbaugh’s program on KFRU.
Cumulus radio station management would not comment on the Flush Rush protest.
