STOVER -- Update: Wednesday, March 21st at 12:45 p.m.:

Thomas Presley's case review has been rescheduled for next Wednesday, March 28th.

Original Story:

The man accused of beating a Stover, Missouri, toddler and reporting it as a hit-and-run accident will appear in court Wednesday.

Thomas Presley is charged with second-degree murder in the death of his girlfriend’s son, 3-year-old Blake Litton.

Presley has a case review scheduled Wednesday in Morgan County.

Litton’s mother, Jamie Litton, is also charged with second-degree murder.

A probable cause statement showed Presley told police he beat and kicked the child and believed he hurt the child so badly, that he sent Litton a text saying the boy might be paralyzed.

He later took the boy to the nursing home where Litton was working the night shift. She came out to check on the boy.

After that, Litton stayed at work; but told police she thought Presley was taking the boy to get medical help.

Instead, Presley called in a fake hit-and-run, telling police the boy was struck by a car on the highway.

Charges against Litton are based on her silence to police.  When told about the hit and run, she did not admit to the early morning visit from Presley with the boy.

Court documents also show doctors believe Litton's daughter was also a victim of abuse. Doctors found one to two week old wounds on the toddler, including bruises and a broken bone.

Litton also faces charges for endangering the welfare of a child.
