When most of us think of the Lake of the Ozarks, we think of summer, boats, fishing, and tourists.
However, for many who build the boats and work at the restaurants during the Summer, they and their families have a difficult time the rest of the year.
"They make, you know, minimum wage often, and sometimes that's only seasonal...their jobs are tough right now in this economy," says Faithbridge volunteer Wayne Marlow.
The Pastor of Faithbridge church, Buck Cueni-Smith, says they see it quite a bit.
“It might be hard to believe, but there is a need at the lake, and there is some poverty. So with that, this comes at the best time of year."
The Church is taking part in a national program called Feed The Children.
"We sponsor a Feed the Children truck which sends 1,200 boxes to our area that feeds about 400 families," said Cueni-Smith.
Feed the Children is organization that, since 1979, has provided the essentials of life to people just like those around the lake, and Faithbridge is localizing those efforts.
"It's going to Eldon, it's going to Camdenton, Osage Beach, it goes to the food panties in the schoolsl," said Allen Moore, another Faithbridge volunteer.
This is just another step this community says they are taking to ensure that a child and their family will always have a the food they need, especially in tough economic times.
