A former employee of the Cole County Sheriff's Department has a court appearance Friday.

38-year-old Deborah Thomas of Jefferson City is being charged with a felony.

She allegedly was stealing from the department by using two department credit cards for her personal use.

One of the counts lists the amount as nearly $16,000 on one of the cards. 

The charges were filed after the Cole County Sheriff's Department was audited last July.
