Winkler in court on manslaughter and assault charges

The Jefferson City man charged with causing a fatal boating crash will have his case heard in Gasconade County.
Christopher Winkler appeared in an Osage County courtroom Wednesday morning with his attorney. After hearing arguments for a change of venue, the judge agreed to move the case to Gasconade, which is the county directly east of Osage.
Winkler is charged with 2 counts of involuntary manslaughter with a vessel and 2 counts of assault with a vessel.
Investigators said Winkler was operating the boat that ran into 2 other boats anchored together on the Osage River on September 3rd. Two people died in the collision.
On Wednesday, Winkler pleaded not guilty to the charges.
His first court appearance in Gasconade County is set for March 7.

Christopher Winkler is charged with 2 counts of involuntary manslaughter with a vessel and 2 counts of assault with a vessel.
Police say Winkler was operating a boat that ran into two other boats anchored together on the Osage River on September 3rd. Two people died as a result of the accident.
Troopers say when they were talking to Winkler after the accident there was a strong odor of intoxicants.
According to online court documents, attorneys for Winkler are expected to ask for a change of venue and to change the conditions of his bond.
