Family Dollar in Jefferson City robbed at gunpoint

JEFFERSON CITY, MO. -- Update: Oct. 14 at 9:55 a.m.:
Police have released more information about the armed robbery at the Family Dollar in Jefferson City Thursday night.
Police said it happened just before the store was ready to close. The clerk said a person came in wearing a hooded sweatshirt and a Halloween mask, showed a handgun and demanded money.
Jefferson City Police said the armed person struck the victim in the face with the weapon and left on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash.
Jefferson City Police are investigating the incident. Anyone with information should call the Jefferson City Police Department or can submit an anonymous tip by calling Crimestoppers at 659-TIPS, or online.

Jefferson City Police are looking for a suspect in robbery at the Family Dollar on Madison St.
Police were seen searching dumpsters and local houses near the Family Dollar.
Police scanner reports said a male wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt wearing a Halloween mask robbed the Family Dollar store in the 700 block of Madison just before 9 Thursday night.
The man was carrying a black semi-automatic gun.
Scanner reports also said one person was hit in the head with a weapon.
