BOONE COUNTY, MO. -- Law enforcement agencies in Boone County are out in full force this Labor Day Weekend.

The Boone County Sheriff’s Department, the Columbia Police Department, University of Missouri Police and the Missouri Highway Patrol have teamed up for 3 large weekend events.

Officers are working traffic and crowd control at a music festival at the Boone County Fairgrounds.

Police are keeping an eye on Labor Day travelers on area highways.

Law enforcement agencies are also preparing for large crowds at the football game between Mizzou and Miami of Ohio.

Columbia Police Officer Latisha Stroer said, “The MU game is on Saturday with an 11:00 a.m. start time.  Traffic Officers are going to start working at 8:00 a.m., 3 hours before game time.  In the fourth quarter, they go out and do traffic posts for another 2 hours after that.”

Stroer wants everyone traveling in the Columbia area this Labor Day Weekend to allow for extra time and to drive slowly in high traffic areas.
