Three people were arrested Saturday in conjunction with a body found on July 1 in the Danville Quarry.
The Montgomery County Sheriff's Department said the three suspects were from Kansas City. One is already in custody in the Montgomery County Jail while the other two are still in Kansas City.
Cassandra E. Johnston, 28, was arrested on suspicion of first-degree murder. She is being held on a $500,000 cash only bond.
Cassandra J. Pickens, 44, was arrested on suspicion of first-degree tampering. Her bond was set at $100,000 cash only.
Also arrested was Marcus Pickens, 21, on suspicion of first-degree tampering with a $100,000 cash only bond.
Edward W. Jefferson, 55, of Kansas City was found on July 1 by employees in the parking lot of the Danville Quarry. According to authorities, an autopsy showed Jefferson died of a gunshot wound to the head.
Montgomery County Sheriff Robert Davis said he asked the Missouri State Highway Patrol's Division of Drug and Crime Control and the state Violent Crimes Unit to assist with the case. He said much of the investigation was centered in the Kansas City area and the other units had jurisdiction beyond Montgomery County's reach.
