There are numerous apps available for your smartphone these days but which ones really provide you with relevant information?  

I’ve heard from many of you on facebook and twitter that some of the most popular apps are from The Weather Channel, WeatherBug, Accuweather.

The good news is that the free versions of these apps do a good job of providing basic weather information and for most smartphone users these apps will give you everything you are looking for... a forecast, current conditions, radar and severe weather alerts.

If you are really into weather and willing to spend a couple bucks, there are apps available for you too. Radarscope and Pykl give you access to various level 3 radar data, warnings for tornado, severe storm, and flash floods.  While WeatherGeek is an app I learned about today it provides weather model data for the continental US and access to the Model Statistic tables around the country.

KRCG now offers WeatherCall Mobile.  This is the same technology that you currently use for your home or business that is now available on your smartphone.  It follows your smart phone’s current location.  It is capable of updating once every minute alerting you if you are in the path of severe weather via a phone call and or text message with specific information including a map of the warning area.
