A 5-year-old girl and her mother survived an accident that flipped their car on its side Wednesday afternoon.

The accident happened about 1 p.m. near the intersection of Vandiver Drive and Rangeline Street in front of a Columbia Dollar General Store.

Tami Hoekman was driving her car with her daughter Kaitlin, 5, who was sitting in the back seat.
