FULTON, MO. -- He calls himself the Country Boy that God called to the nations.

Fulton’s Church of God Bishop Bill Rogers is on his 100th missionary trip.

He was ordained a bishop in 1956.  He’s preached in 89 nations and spoken at 331 colleges and universities throughout the world.  Now this humble pastor from Fulton is spreading the word of God on his 100th missionary trip in Northern Honduras.

Bishop Rogers said, “I could care less whether people agree with me or not.  I don’t mean to be arrogant.  I get everything from God.  I spit it out as he gives it to me.”

Bishop Rogers has a scrap book that has letters from hundreds of heads of state including former Presidents Bush and Clinton.  His fondest memories are of his wife Becky who died of cancer just 4 days before the 911 attacks.  Bishop Rogers said he has thousands of unforgettable memories from his missionary trips around the world.  However his life changing moment happened in Fulton, Missouri.

An accident damaged Bishop Rogers’ back leaving him disabled.  He preached out of chair for about a year.  This holy man says God sent an angel from heaven to cure him.

Bishop Rogers said, “I had preachers from all over the world praying for me.  One night, about 2 o’clock in the morning right after that, an angel came to the bed and jabbed his finger in my side and I leaped out.  I was a new man.  I’ve been going ever since.”

Bishop Rogers has gone through 4 wars, hurricanes, floods and earthquakes.  He said God has protected him throughout his journeys.  After 100 missionary trips, Bishop Rogers has no plans to retire because he feels there’s still a lot of work to be done.

Rogers said, “The church in America is so far from God compared to what it was when I started out 62 years ago.”

Bishop Rogers plans to return from his 100th missionary trip in about 2 weeks.

You can catch his sermons at the Fulton Church of God at 201 Westminster Avenue every Sunday at 11 a.m. when the bishop is in town.
