Supreme Court gives order for a jury to be selected from Green County and imported to Jefferson City for the trial.

JEFFERSON CITY, MO -- On Tuesday, the Missouri Supreme Court affirmed a lower court's ruling that the jury be imported for Alyssa Bustamante's trial.

Bustamante is accused of first-degree murder. Her trial is scheduled for June.

Lawyers for the defendent previously requested a change of venue for the trial, saying it would be impossible to get a fair trial in Cole County. Judge Patricia Joyce decided that instead of taking the trial elsewhere, the jury would be brought in from another county.

It was later decided that Greene County would provide the jury for the trial and on Tuesday, the Supreme Court issued an official summons for Greene County to choose a jury to be brought to Mid-Missouri.

When she made her decision, Joyce said moving the trial would be a burder to the family of Elizabeth Olten, the 9-year-old murder victim. She also said it would be cumbersome to transfer the dozens of witnesses and court personnel to a different location.
