BLAND, MO -- A police officer in Bland, Missouri and his wife have each been charged with a felony.
Online court records show part-time Police Officer Hans A Rasmussen and his wife, Connie F. Rasmussen have been charged with stealing.
The Gasconade County Republican reported the summonses issued Feb. 26 alleged the pair fraudulently obtained a bank loan in 2008 and never purchased a truck they stated they intended to buy with $11,500 they received.
Both Hans and Connie are scheduled to be arraigned March 22 at 9a.m. at the Maries County Courthouse.
The Gasconade County Republican also reported due to a potential conflict of interest among neighboring police departments, Maries County Sheriff Chris Heitman said his department was asked by Belle police to investigate allegations the Rasmussens used a copy of a vehicle title, a legitimate VIN (vehicle identification number), and pictures of a 1997 GMC work truck, to obtain a loan from Mid America Bank in Belle in February 2008.
The couple had sought a loan for $12,435.39 and actually received a check, made out to them, from Mid America Bank for $11,500, according to a probable cause statement obtained by The Republican.
Bland's Mayor Trish O'Dell, confirmed to KRCG that Hans A. Rasmussen was the town's police chief less than a year ago.
Now he is working as a part-time police officer and is on administrative leave until everything is figured out.
