COLUMBIA, MO. -- Updated: Sunday, Feb. 27 at 3:30 p.m.:
Police are searching for suspects involved in a shooting in Columbia.
It happened around 7:30 Saturday evening at the Midwest Petroleum Gas Station on Business Loop 70 East.
A 28-year old black man was shot in the upper arm.
Witnesses told KRCG he was getting gas at the time of the shooting and scene became pure chaos.
"It was a madhouse, the family was frantic," witness Cliff Crowder said.
“There were people all around,” witness Nicholas Bonds said. “It was a little bit confusing people were running around like crazy and stuff."
Crowder was in the apartment building next door when he heard about a half a dozen gunshots.
Crowder, a former EMT and veteran rushed to the victim to control the bleeding.
"I took of my shirt and used it as a makeshift bandage and my friend Nick did the same," Crowder said.
The victim was taken to University Hospital, he had a 2-year old child in his car when he was shot.
In all, three cars were hit by what police believe was a drive by shooting.
One of the cars had a 6-year old inside.
Police said suspect details are sketchy but eyewitnesses reported seeing a dark colored sedan drive away.

Police confirmed a shooting in Columbia Saturday night. It happened around 7:30 at the Midwest Petroleum gas station on Business Loop East.
We now know a 28 year-old black man is the victim, he was shot in the upper arm and taken to University Hospital. He had a two year old child in his car when he was shot.
In all, three cars were were hit by what police believe was a drive by shooting. One of the cars had a six year- old inside. Police say suspect details are limited at this time but eyewitnesses reported seeing a dark colored sedan.
