Nearly two million baby monitors have been recalled after two children died as a result of strangulation from the cords attached.

Summer Infant, Inc. initiated a voluntary recall to provide new information on the warning label and instructions for where to safely place the video monitors.

In March 2010, a 10-month old from Washington, DC strangled in her crib in the electrical cord of the monitor that was placed near her crib. A six-month old boy in Conway, S.C. died in November 2010 when he was strangled by the cord of a video monitor also placed closely to his crib.

The Consumer Safety Product Commission is also reporting a 20-month old boy who was found in his crib with the monitor around his neck, but he was freed without injury.
