JEFFERSON CITY, MO. -- The Ike Skelton training site has a new display just in time for the holidays.

The military toy exhibit has delighted visitors of all ages since it began 8 years ago.

Historian Charles Machon spent countless hours assembling small figurines, models and collectibles for the annual holiday toy display.

"Some of them will have some memories of the toys that they had when they were children and talk about the joys they had when they were younger playing with them and pass that onto their children," Machon said.

Many of the toys belong to members of the Missouri National Guard and their families along with Machon's own personal collection.

With the wars over seas, Missouri National Guard commander Steve Danner says the display is something all Missourians can relate to and appreciate.

"Especially during this time, Christmas time we think of home and family and I think that it's a good time to remember those who have gone before us and its a good time to remember those who will not be able to be with us this Christmas because they're serving our country," Danner said.

The toys will be on display through January and it is free and open to the public during regularly scheduled business hours Monday through Friday at the training site.
