JEFFERSON CITY, MO. -- Thousands of shoppers braved the cold to get their chance at Black Friday deals.
For many, the sales were too good to pass up.
"We really wanted the TV Target had on sale, really badly," shopper Tim Brown said.
For some, they got up early and stood out in the freezing temperatures for....fun.
“We're just kinda here to hang out,” 18-year-old Alex Ikehoff said. “Some people aren't even getting anything so we're just here to have a good time."
The cold didn't keep the shoppers away.
With a little coffee and a spring in their step and maybe a map, they were ready to buy some gifts.
"I know exactly where I'm going, I've got my trip through the store all planned out, I'll be in and out hopefully in about 10 minutes," Brown said.
For some teenage veterans, today was a piece of cake.
"We did do some planning, we are professionals,” Ikehoff said. “I've been doing this for 5 years or so, so, of course there was some pregame options, and yeah, we know what we're doing."
while buying gifts to check off that holiday list was on shoppers' minds, so was the spirit of the season.
“1/2 of it's the spirit of it, so even if what we get is not awesome, it's still worth it because we're having a good time," Ikehoff said.
Brown says he waited in line for 11 hours for target to open it's doors.
He says he got to the retailer at 6p.m. Thursday evening to claim his place in the line.
