Columbia school closed Friday for electrical problems

There was a part in the breaker system was caused the electrical malfunction at Alpha Hart Elementary School Friday.

The part will be replaced in time for school Monday.

Due to electrical issues, Alpha Hart Lewis Elementary School will be closed on Friday, Aug. 20.
 
This closure is separate from the heat-related early dismissal that will also occur for the seven non-air-conditioned buildings on Friday, Aug. 20.
 
These buildings include: Jefferson and West Junior High schools dismissing at 11:30 a.m.; Lee, Midway Heights, New Haven, Ridgeway and Two Mile Prairie elementary schools dismissing at 12:30 p.m. Students will be served lunch before they are dismissed.
 
All other buildings will remain in session for the entire school day.
