Boone County deputies arrested a Columbia man suspected of hitting another with a baseball bat Tuesday night.

Clifford Peel, 47, was arrested for second degree assault and armed criminal action after the victim identified him as his attacker.

Peel told deputies that he hit the victim in self defense.
